So in case you haven’t heard, Project Miata burnt to the ground. It was a total loss. We were able to salvage a few parts from the car but for the most part everything is just gone. So that means we have to start completely over from scratch.
However, our fans have been a tremendous help. You’ve donated time, money, tools, and parts to the cause. You have been instrumental in keeping this project moving forward in the aftermath of the inferno.
So what exactly is the Save Project Miata Fund? Well it was started by the folks over at Motorama Live! less than an hour after Project Miata caught fire. They knew that we’d never manage to get all of the money back from the insurance claim that we had in aftermarket parts we just installed on the car while we were shooting for the first round of content. So they decided to take the initative and put out a call to all of their followers to help us replace the parts we can’t salvage and find a new Mazda Miata to replace the original Project Miata and continue bringing you guys the awesome content you have come to expect from both Burnout Radio and Car Care 101.
These are the awesome folks who have helped out so far:
- Bruce Nunnally over at Caddy Info hooked us with $200.
- Berry Lowman from Team Hall & Nass ponied up $100.
- @LowFlyinPelican the bane of Bugatti Veryon’s everywhere, donated $50.
- An Anonymous Donor sent over a $50 gift card to Harbor Freight.
- And the crew from Lasseter Bus & Mobility dropped off this mother load of specialty tools!

Al Drake from Lasseter Bus & Mobility dropped off this plethora of specialty tools for us to use in the restoration of Project Miata and in future projects. We’ve got everything from a really cool press, to spring compressors, gear pullers, and slide hammers. He even gave us a couple of things that I have no clue what exactly they do.. - You may have noticed the shiny new Ford F-150 sitting in the background. That’s because the people at Ford totally rock! They heard about the plight of Project Miata and they hooked me up with this F-150 XLT truck sporting the brand new 5.0L v8. We’ll have a review of the truck up shortly. This thing is sweet!
